Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about designing, creating and printing your sports program books.

Icon - ExpandYOUR SOFTWARE AND ACCOUNT

Why does Program Designer PRO ask to make changes to my computer’s hard drive?

Every time you load Program Designer PRO, the software checks for updates (new graphics, etc.) the team here at Sports Program Printing may have made since the last time you used it. These changes are added to the version of the software you have stored on your computer’s hard drive.

I could really use some help. Are there videos that show me how to create my book?

Absolutely! You’ll find our video tutorial section in the Resources section of this website.

Is the software compatible with Mac or PC?

Our program book design software was created to work with both Mac and PC. If you find you’re having trouble and suspect it may be related to your operating system, be sure you’ve downloaded the correct version of Program Designer PRO.

Are there more fonts available?

Program Designer PRO utilizes the fonts you have stored on your computer. More fonts on your hard drive=more fonts for your book.

What type of file can I place in Program Designer PRO?

Jpeg files that are saved as RGB work best. If you’re not sure how to properly format your jpeg, we have a video available in the Resource section of this website that will show you how.

How do I add a PDF file to my book?

Program Designer Pro requires images, logos, etc to be in Jpeg or Tiff format. If you have a PDF file it will need to be converted to one of these formats in order to work with our software. You can easily convert your PDF file to Jpeg format by using the free converter at the site below. Be sure to select the highest quality (300dpi) conversion.

How do I know my images will print properly?

Resolution is the name of the game when it comes to your pictures. We recommend using high quality images with a minimum 200 DPI. Lower resolution pictures may appear grainy or pixelated after printing. Program Designer PRO is equipped to warn you about any low-resolution images you may have when you ask to proof your book.

How do I make sure no text or images will be cut off the edges of my book during production?

It’s easy to misjudge margins and lose a piece of your content during the printing process. Fortunately, Program Designer PRO takes the guesswork out of creating your pages by providing a red margin guide on your page layout. As long as you stay inside the red lines, you’ll be fine. If your images or text stretch beyond that, it’s likely they’ll be cut off.

What are bleeds?

You’ll hear us talk a lot about bleeds when we’re talking about formatting your images. A bleed is when your picture “bleeds” over the edge of your cut lines. In other words, when you trim the edges of your print project you’re actually cutting off part of the picture. It effectively serves to eliminate that white frame you get around your central image otherwise, giving your project a full colored, full-bodies appearance.

Can I change the colors of the background/cover templates?

This service is available for an additional. Please see the Our Products section of this website for details.

How many pages can I put in my book?

There is no limit to the number of pages allowed in your book, however, the total page count must be divisible by 4.

Why is the program running slowly/freezing?

Unlike Ad Creator, Program Designer PRO is not a cloud-based application. Its ability to function depends entirely on the power of your computer. When you create your book, you’re working with large, resource intensive files. Low RAM/memory may cause issues which include causing the program to slow down or lock up your computer.

Can two people use the software to create a book?

Program Designer PRO is designed to be used on a single, designated computer. Although you are able to transfer your book files to another computer if necessary, however, it is not recommended to switch back and forth.

I’m having trouble creating my book. How do I speak to a real person?

Feel free to contact one of our program book specialists at any time. You’ll find contact methods on the Contact Us page of our website.

Icon - ExpandORDERING & PRINTING

I’ve completed my book but I’m having problems when I select ‘Send to Sports Program Printing.’ Any suggestions?

There are a few common reasons why you might have issues when you are trying to upload your design when checking out.

Network Connectivity – First confirm that you are connected to the Internet. Open a web browser and go to a page that you don’t visit often or a page that you know is updated frequently (e.g. News website). This will confirm that you have Internet access and the web page you are accessing is not being pulled from your computers cache or history.

Firewall – If you have network connectivity but Program Designer Pro is unable to upload your design, please ensure that your system firewall isn’t preventing your computer from sending your design to our servers. Here are a few references that may help…

Pop-up Blocker – If our shopping cart fails to launch a new web browser window this is often a sign that your browser has a pop-up blocker enabled. Please review your default web browser settings to ensure that you allow pop-ups from sportsprogramprinting.com. Here are a few references that might help…

Virus Protection – In some instances your virus protection software may cause issues. Please review the software documentation or contact the software vendor in the event you suspect it is the cause of your problems.

What does the yellow alert on some of my images mean?

Our system is set to automatically alert you when a low-resolution image has been inserted into your book. These images may not print properly. We recommend that any images that have been flagged by our system be replaced with a high resolution image of 200 DPI or more.

What is the minimum/maximum number of books I can order?

We will print as few or as many books as you need for your team without minimum or maximum limitations.

Why does it take so long to send my file to print?

The quality of your book’s graphics and images mean that the file can get really large. These files take longer to send, but a professional, high quality book is worth the wait!

Can I preview my project before I order it?

A PDF copy of your book can be viewed at any time throughout your book building process by clicking “File” in the upper left of your screen the “create proof.” A hard copy proof of your book can also be printed and shipped for you to review for an additional fee.

I’ve already created my book. Can you print from my original file?

Absolutely. If you already have a print ready PDF, we can print and deliver your books.

Can I create my program book using your software and have another printer print it?

We have a package for that! Please see the Our Products section of this website for details.
